Two Chicago Residents Arrested in New Lenox Carjacking, New Details Revealed
On Monday, the New Lenox police released additional details about the incident. The carjacking occurred at approximately 6:15 a.m. on June 20th in the 1600 block of Eagle Circle. A 71-year-old Uber driver was waiting for his passenger to exit a residence and enter his car, when a stolen white Hyundai pulled up and parked in front of his Toyota Venza.
Two armed individuals forcibly removed the victim from his vehicle, while one of them struck him in the head with a pistol. Meanwhile, a third suspect remained in the Hyundai as the crime unfolded.
The offenders stole the Uber driver’s keys, cellphone, and money clip before making their escape in both the victim’s Toyota and the Hyundai. However, they abandoned the Toyota a few houses away from the crime scene. All three suspects then fled in the Hyundai.
